If the idea behind table topics is to prepare you to answer questions off the top of your head while thinking quickly, then one should develop the skill of answering a wide variety of questions in any form. There's a benefit in being asked a "bad question", that's just as much as a skill that should be developed as any other. I don’t agree that simple questions are necessary better.
