We think direct written and verbal communication is clear and accurate and efficient. It is none of those.

Plan on being misunderstood. Repeat yourself. When in doubt, repeat yourself.

When we create speeches, we plan on the audience understanding us first time.  It is part of the curse of knowledge.  Not everyone will get it first time.  Plan for that.
