Doing things Differently

Jun 02

Dmitri Martin shows how different stand-up can be.  When you evaluate a speech, don’t automatically assume that it has to have expansive gestures, has to have a beginning middle and end, and has to have purposeful body movement.  Sometimes the best communication can have none of these.

Do things differently

Jun 02

Trust30 for June 2nd: http://ralphwaldoemerson.me/buster-benson

My task was the following:  The world is powered by passionate people, powerful ideas, and fearless action. What’s one strong belief you possess that isn’t shared by your closest friends or family? What inspires this belief, and what have you done to actively live it?

You don’t have to do things a certain way.  I am inspired by a creative desire.

In Toastmasters I see a lot of people doing what everyone else does.  Same old agendas.  Same old FreeToastHost websites.  Same old speeches.  Toastmasters is comfortable.

I have taken advantage of doing things differently.  Agenda’s that serve more than one purpose.  Club websites that have something to offer.  Speeches that push the boundaries.  I push my comfort level.

I could do more to actively live this belief, and I actively encourage others to do the same.
