Worst TED Evah!
Nov 16
What a disappointment. Video about beauty. Andrew Park doing the graphics. You think it would be beyond belief.

The narration is boring and almost lifeless. Written words are meant to be read, not heard. The artwork, which is amazing to watch, does little more than take the narration literally. There’s so many better videos than this by much less talented people.
Perhaps this is a turning point? Perhaps the time is coming where anyone can use the tools available to make a presentation that wows?

John, what do you think about how TED recently changed their website such that we can no longer filter talks by “Most Favorited”?
I don’t like it.
Because now someone can watch a couple mediocre TED Talks and be turned off from TED in general. That would be a shame.
I did a talk on three reasons why Toastmasters should watch TED Talks, and I’d like to connect with other Toastmasters interested in TED.
Here’s the talk, with video: http://www.kevinkane.com/2010/12/before-bed-watch-ted/
Best wishes.
Thanks for the note Kevin. It seems you can filter by “Most Jaw Dropping” as well as other attributes such as persuasive, funny, etc.
To your point though, I would think most people become aware of TED through a friend sharing a link. Rare would be the case that someone is purely browsing and found the TED homepage.
Good points, John. Cheers.
